Nonsuch is always happy to hear from authors, local history societies, photographers, schools and libraries interested in pursuing a local history publishing project.

Please read the information below prior to sending an email.
Email submissions and queries to Ronan Colgan - rcolgan@thehistorypress.co.uk

Our normal submission guidelines are as follows:

An approximate word count

An approximate number of images which you would include

A synopsis of the book (300 words would be fine)

A contents page (this gives us an idea of the structure)

A sample chapter

A date when you could make final delivery of the finished work

These guidelines allow us to assess each proposal as quickly as possible, but please allow approximately four weeks for us to respond to you.

Some of our current series include:
Images of Ireland
Books in our Images of Ireland series are usually compiled by a person, or small group of people, with access to a collection of archive images of the local area or related to the topic. No experience is necessary and we offer as much editorial support as is needed. In general we require 200 archive images, each accompanied by an appropriate caption of around 30-70 words. The overall text length is between 12-15,000 words.

History & Guide
For towns that require a more detailed work we have a longer, more in depth series. These titles have a great deal of flexibility and allow authors to deal with time spans beyond the restrictions of images and voices. They also allow for about 100-120 images and can stretch to 70,000 words.
